Although the focus is on pesticide use, there is also a great deal of other useful information from the cocoa industry worldwide including statistics, environmental impacts, child labour, business practises, pesticide use, management, and definitions, and much more!
Although it is a long read, there is a great of information one can gather from skimming the document. And the great part is it is made available for free. I am simply sharing it with you to highlight their incredible work.
This is the Fourth Edition (last edition was from 2015). This is available for free online.
This is a good read and offers wonderful insight into the international cacao industry (not focused on the fine cacao industry). See the table of content which includes topics such as cocoa production worldwide, environment and cocoa production, child labour issues, crop production, and great focus on pesticide use including pesticide regulation, definitions, managing hazards, application methods for cocoa, agricultural practices, and more.
This will help you understand aspects of cacao production, especially in regards to how various pesticides are used and managed within the industry. This will help inform you as a consumer, and offer information you can pass on as a chocolate maker or educator in the field.
